Huawei launches DevEco CLI for AI‑enhanced HarmonyOS development
Huawei introduced the DevEco CLI, a command‑line interface that packages the DevEco Studio toolchain and a HarmonyOS knowledge base. The tool enables AI agents to automate the full development workflow—project scaffolding, building, device debugging, emulator control, and real‑time syntax checking—through structured JSON data streams. It runs on macOS or Windows, requires Node.js ≥ 18, and includes over 70 built‑in “Skills” covering multi‑device adaptation, ArkTS syntax, and application quality checks.
In parallel, HarmonyOS 7 (API 26) Beta 2 adds a “Parallel View” feature for large‑screen devices such as foldable phones and tablets. The feature offers two split‑screen modes—push‑aside and overlay—with adjustable column ratios (e.g., 1:1, 1:2) and drag‑to‑resize interaction. This enables smoother multitasking for shopping, reading, messaging, and other high‑frequency scenarios, allowing developers to integrate a unified multi‑window experience via simple APIs.
