Huawei launches HarmonyOS 7 with AI‑enhanced interface and 15% performance boost

Huawei introduced HarmonyOS 7 at its Huawei Developer Conference in China on June 12‑13, 2026. The new operating system adds a spatial, glass‑like user interface that creates 3D depth effects on lock screens and transparent UI elements, a design Huawei compares to Apple's "Liquid Glass".

Performance is claimed to be up to 15% faster than HarmonyOS 6, with quicker app launches, smoother gaming and reduced latency. A new agent‑based AI architecture, the HarmonyOS Intelligent Agent Framework 2.0, powers an upgraded virtual assistant, Celia, which can interpret complex, multi‑step commands across apps. AI also powers photo‑editing tools and a suite of anti‑fraud features that detect suspicious QR codes, fraudulent websites, spoofed phone numbers and voice‑scam calls.

A developer beta for eligible devices—including the upcoming Mate 90 series, Mate 80 Pro, Pura 90 Pro Max, Nova 15 Pro and others—became available on the day of the announcement. The stable consumer version is scheduled for release in the autumn of 2026, initially on the Mate 90 line featuring the new Kirin 2026 chipset.
