Huawei launches HarmonyOS 7 with AI agents and Liquid Glass UI
Huawei introduced HarmonyOS 7 at its developer conference in Dongguan, China, releasing a developer beta that showcases a new “Liquid Glass” visual design and a refreshed interface. The operating system adds an AI‑agent framework 2.0 that lets more than 2,000 specialized AI agents execute complex, multi‑step tasks across devices, with Huawei reporting a task‑execution success rate above 90% and a performance gain of roughly 15% over the previous version.
The update supports smartphones, tablets, PCs, wearables and IoT devices, with a stable public version planned for the fall of 2026 and a flagship Mate 80 launch slated for October. In China’s Q1 2026 handset market, HarmonyOS holds about 19% share, positioning it ahead of Apple’s iOS 27 at 16%, and intensifying competition with Android.
Huawei aims to leverage the agent‑centric platform to strengthen its ecosystem and challenge Apple and Android in the rapidly growing Chinese AI‑driven mobile market.
