Huawei launches HarmonyOS 7.0 closed beta for over 25 devices
Huawei has launched a closed beta phase for HarmonyOS 7.0, expanding testing to over 25 devices including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. This phase moves beyond developer-only testing to include voluntary users, signaling progress toward a stable official release.
Compatible devices include the Mate 80, Mate 70, Mate X7, Mate X6, Pura 90, Pura 80, Pura X, and Nova 15 and 16 series. The update also covers MatePad Pro, MatePad Mini, and MatePad Edge tablets, as well as various MateBook laptops equipped with the Kirin X90 Plus chip.
New features in the HarmonyOS 7.0 rollout include the ability to unlock a paired smartphone using facial or fingerprint recognition via a tablet. Other updates include 3D space wallpapers, an “Intimate Circle” function, and an outdoor exploration mode. Additionally, AI features such as the Xiaoyi assistant for call answering and automatic conversation summaries can now be used offline. However, some early users have reported technical issues, including device overheating and high battery consumption.
