Huawei leads global smartwatch market as Samsung tablet prices rise

Huawei has secured a leading position in the global wearable market for the first half of 2026, capturing a market share of over 20% according to IDC and Counterpoint Research. Despite a projected 4% decline in the overall smartwatch market due to consumers delaying upgrades, Huawei achieved a record number of shipments, reaching a 21.8% market share. Apple follows in second place with a 20.1% share.

In a separate development, leaks regarding Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Tab S12 lineup suggest significant price increases in Europe. The reports indicate that Samsung may discontinue the standard base model, leaving only the S12+ and S12 Ultra. This shift could result in an entry price approximately 400 euros higher than previous generations. The S12+ is expected to start around 1,299 euros, while the Ultra model could reach over 1,500 euros.

Additionally, a recent Apple study on heart rate sensor accuracy compared various wearables against a Polar H10 chest strap. The findings indicated that among non-Apple devices, the Google Pixel Watch and Huawei Watch demonstrated high levels of accuracy, while Samsung's Galaxy Watch trailed slightly behind.
