Huawei maintains global smartwatch leadership with expanded wearable lineup
Huawei has maintained its position as the global leader in the smartwatch market, according to IDC data for Q2 2026. The company is expanding its wearable portfolio to address diverse user needs, ranging from daily lifestyle use to extreme sports and specialized health monitoring.
The updated lineup includes the HUAWEI WATCH GT Series, GT Runner, Ultimate, FIT, D Series, and the standard HUAWEI WATCH Series. Specific models target different demographics: the GT Runner is designed for long-distance runners with features like Ultra Precise Positioning and VO2 Max tracking, while the GT 7 Pro is expected to include advanced health features such as ECG and AI-based analysis for coronary heart disease and diabetes risks.
Huawei’s focus on health and sports management is supported by industry trends; data from PwC Indonesia indicates that 86 percent of consumers use health applications or wearable devices. Additionally, Huawei's technology has been noted for its accuracy, having participated in a heart rate accuracy study alongside the Apple Watch where results showed no statistically significant difference in average heart rate accuracy during physical activity.
