Huawei may adopt LPDDR6 memory in upcoming products
Reports suggest that Huawei may introduce products featuring LPDDR6 memory technology within this year. While not officially confirmed, industry speculation points toward the potential inclusion of this sixth-generation low-power memory standard in upcoming hardware, such as the Mate 80 series.
LPDDR6, based on the JEDEC JESD209-6 specification, is designed to meet the high bandwidth and low power requirements of mobile devices and artificial intelligence applications. The new standard utilizes a dual sub-channel design, offering data transfer rates starting above 10Gbps and reaching up to 14.4Gbps. This represents a bandwidth increase of approximately 20% to 45% compared to LPDDR5X, which could help alleviate memory bottlenecks during the operation of on-device large language models.
