Huawei MB2 microwave antenna wins 2026 Red Dot Design Award

Huawei's MB2 microwave antenna was named a winner of the 2026 Red Dot Design Award in Germany, a prize often described as the "Oscars" of industrial design. The antenna's minimalist, green design incorporates a cylindrical geometry that cuts wind load, a conical top to prevent water and bird nests, and a stepped base for easier handling.

The MB2 solution supports up to ten different directions and eight frequency bands (13‑38 GHz), potentially reducing the number of antennas needed by up to 90%, saving tower space, load and rental costs. Installation time drops from three hours to about 20 minutes, and a proprietary same‑frequency interference cancellation algorithm narrows spectrum‑reuse angles from 90° to 15°, boosting spectral efficiency up to four‑fold. After testing with more than ten operators worldwide, the antenna is moving toward commercial deployment.
