Huawei raises prices for nova 16 series smartphones

Huawei has announced price increases for several models in its nova 16 series. According to official website updates, the nova 16 and nova 16 Pro models will see price hikes of 400 yuan, while the nova 16 SE will increase by 200 yuan. Specific pricing for the nova 16 Pro 512GB version will now reach 4,799 yuan.

This adjustment follows a previous price increase for the Mate 80 series in September. Huawei's Chairman of the Terminal BG, Yu Chengdong, attributed these changes to the sharp rise in memory component costs, noting that hardware costs per device have increased by more than 200 USD. He stated that while the company attempted to absorb these costs to protect consumers, rising expenses have pressured profit margins, making price adjustments necessary for business sustainability.

Industry data indicates that DRAM contract prices rose significantly in early 2026, with memory chips now accounting for 30% to 40% of total smartphone material costs.
