Huawei showcases advanced health and sports research capabilities
Huawei has showcased its extensive research and development capabilities through a media tour of its specialized health and sports technology facilities. Central to these efforts is the HUAWEI Health Lab located in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, which spans 4,680 square meters and serves as the company’s largest hub for researching wearable device functions.
The company utilizes a “5-3-1” research framework: five years of advanced technology exploration (primarily led by the Helsinki lab), three years of investigation and research (centered in Dongguan), and one year of product implementation (managed through the Xi'an lab). This global network allows Huawei to integrate sensing technology with academic research, collaborating with over 180 institutions on more than 340 health projects.
New facilities at the Dongguan lab include a specialized ski simulator designed to measure G-forces and movement during turns, as well as enhanced golf testing zones equipped with high-speed cameras and swing analysis tools. These labs aim to refine algorithms for blood oxygen levels, arrhythmia analysis, and sleep tracking, supporting a user base of approximately 37 million people worldwide.
