Huawei talent Ning Boyu resigns to pursue academic research

Ning Boyu, a former participant in Huawei’s “Young Genius” program, has resigned from the technology giant after more than three years. Ning, who earned a salary exceeding 1 million NDT (approximately 3.88 billion VND) per year, decided to leave the company to pursue academic research.

After earning his doctorate from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2023, Ning was selected for Huawei’s elite program, receiving the highest salary among new graduates. He cited a desire for greater research independence and a preference for academic collaboration over the repetitive product-focused tasks encountered at the company.

Before moving to Sweden to begin postdoctoral research, Ning returned to his hometown in Hunan province to assist his relatives with selling harvested corn.
