Huawei tops Chinese smartphone market in H1 2026 as Mate 80 series sales near 8 million units

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. captured 20.6% of the Chinese smartphone market in the first half of 2026, placing it ahead of Apple Inc., which held 17.5%, and maintaining the lead over rivals such as OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi and Honor. The market data, released by a domestic analyst, showed Huawei’s share widening by 3.1 percentage points relative to its nearest competitor.

Sales figures for Huawei’s newly launched Mate 80 line indicate a rapid uptake. A technology blogger reported that in the week of 13–19 July, the series sold approximately 792,000 units, and extrapolating from the weekly growth of over 100,000 units, total sales are expected to have surpassed eight million units by the end of July. The Mate 80 family includes the standard, Pro, Pro Max and RS models, featuring the Kirin 9020/9030 processors and HarmonyOS 6.

The reports also noted that Samsung Electronics Co. is developing a next‑generation Galaxy Z TriFold slated for a 2027 launch, though this pertains to a different market segment.
