Huawei unveils FreeBuds 7 wireless earbuds with enhanced AI noise cancellation

Huawei has officially unveiled its new FreeBuds 7 wireless earbuds, featuring a semi-open design without silicone ear tips. Each earbud weighs 4.3 grams, representing a 12% reduction in weight compared to the previous generation, while the charging case is 17% lighter and 25% smaller.

The device is powered by Huawei’s third-generation proprietary audio AI chip, which includes a dual DSP and an NPU. This chip doubles the processing power of its predecessor, sampling ambient noise 400,000 times per second to achieve a noise cancellation latency of just 8 microseconds. Huawei reports that the average noise cancellation depth is 2.3 times greater than the previous model, with a 2.75 times increase in bandwidth.

Key technical specifications include an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance on the earbuds, a wide frequency range of 14 Hz to 48 kHz, and support for LDAC and L2HC codecs. The earbuds provide up to 8.5 hours of playback on a single charge, with a total battery life of up to 42 hours when using the charging case. The retail price is set at $140.
