Huawei unveils HarmonyOS 7 with spatial UI, AI‑agent platform and built‑in anti‑fraud tools

Huawei announced HarmonyOS 7 at its HDC 2026 developer conference on 12 June. The update introduces a "spatial design" visual language that adds depth, dynamic lighting and 3‑D effects to the interface, replacing the flat style of previous versions.

The OS embeds an AI‑agent architecture dubbed Intelligent Agent Framework 2.0, supporting more than 2,000 specialized agents. The system can handle complex, multi‑step user requests and allows developers to control graphics via AI, which Huawei describes as "intention as a service."

A unified anti‑fraud platform runs in real time with six capabilities: detection of scripted scams, AI‑based synthetic‑voice fraud, deep‑fake video calls, masked international numbers, risky QR codes and disguised apps. Huawei claims these tools improve security across calls, messages and video interactions.

Performance is said to be over 15 % faster than HarmonyOS 6, and the beta of HarmonyOS 7 is already available on flagship devices such as the Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, Mate XT Master, Pura 90 Pro Max and Pura Xynova 15 Pro. A stable public release is planned for autumn 2026. In China the OS will no longer support Android APK files, moving exclusively to the native HAP format.
