Huawei unveils Mate XT 2 tri-fold phone with Kirin 9050 Pro chip

Huawei has unveiled the Mate XT 2 tri-fold smartphone, featuring the new Kirin 9050 Pro chip. The processor utilizes a novel logic folding architecture, which stacks logic units vertically in three-dimensional layers. This design aims to increase transistor density and computing power while bypassing restrictions on advanced lithography equipment imposed by United States technology sanctions.

The Kirin 9050 Pro achieves a transistor density of approximately 238 million per square millimeter, representing a 55 percent increase over the previous Kirin 9030 Pro. Huawei reports that the Mate XT 2 provides a 42 percent performance improvement over its predecessor.

Repair costs for the Mate XT 2 have also been released. A replacement screen assembly is priced at CNY 7,999, which is approximately 40 percent of the device's starting price of CNY 19,999. The screen assembly includes the flexible inner panel, middle frame, and battery. Motherboard replacement costs vary by storage capacity, ranging from CNY 6,099 for the 256GB model to CNY 9,299 for the 1TB variant.
