Huawei unveils Kirin 9050 Pro chip and Mate XT 2 tri-fold smartphone

Huawei is advancing its hardware capabilities through new chip architecture and domestic component integration. The company has unveiled the Mate XT 2, a tri-fold smartphone featuring the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. This processor utilizes LogicFolding technology, which distributes logic between two active layers to increase transistor density without relying on smaller manufacturing processes, a strategic move to navigate semiconductor restrictions.

Upcoming flagship models, specifically the Mate 90 series and Mate 90 Pro Max, are expected to feature significant camera upgrades. Leaks indicate the use of SmartSens sensors, including a 200MP periscope telephoto lens that supports 4x lossless zoom. These sensors will utilize next-generation LOFIC technology to improve high dynamic range and low-light performance. The Mate 90 Pro Max is also rumored to include a dual-layer OLED display and an optional integrated privacy screen for enhanced security.
