Huawei unveils Mate XT2 foldable smartphone with U‑fold triple‑screen design

Huawei is preparing to launch the Mate XT2, a new triple‑fold smartphone that uses a U‑shaped folding mechanism. Patent drawings show the left panel folding inward first, followed by the right panel, creating an outer protective screen and a large inner flexible display. The device also includes an independent side screen for calls, messages and other routine actions without opening the main display.

The Mate XT2 is expected to share the Kirin 9050 Pro (or next‑generation Kirin) processor used in the Mate 90 series, feature a central camera module, a triple rear‑camera array, and a battery exceeding 6 000 mAh. Renderings suggest a launch in September 2024, positioning the handset as a major highlight in the 2024 foldable‑phone market.
