Huawei unveils RTN 5100 microwave solution to double capacity
Huawei has launched the RTN 5100, a new point-to-multipoint (PtMP) microwave solution designed to operate on the unlicensed 5 GHz spectrum. According to Xu Yangbing, Vice President of Huawei’s Microwave Product Line, the new system doubles both the transmission capacity and the number of accessible sites compared to its predecessor.
The RTN 5100 can support up to two 1-Gbps channels at a single central site and accommodate as many as 128 remote sites. It utilizes Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology to prevent interference and conflict during multi-site access. The solution supports various networking modes, including point-to-multipoint, point-to-point, and multi-hop relay, making it suitable for high-bandwidth needs such as 4K ultra-HD video and broadband services.
To enhance security, the device features high-strength air interface encryption, including AES256 and national cryptographic standards. The product is positioned as an energy-efficient and reliable wireless backhaul solution for industries such as electric power, oil and gas, and government sectors.
