Hubert J. E. to close sparkling wine plant in Sereď

Hubert J. E. has announced the closure of its sparkling wine production facility in Sereď, Slovakia, by the end of 2026. The decision follows a thorough analysis aimed at strengthening the long-term competitiveness of the BOHEMIA SEKT group within the region.

Despite significant recent investments, the company reported that it was unable to reach full production capacity or ensure economically sustainable production at the Sereď site in the long term. Production will be transferred to sister plants in Starý Plzenec and Mikulov. The company stated that the availability of Hubert sparkling wines for customers in the Slovak market will not change.

The closure will affect approximately 60 employees through a two-stage process. Some staff members may be offered positions at other group facilities. The company has reached agreements with unions and the works council regarding support measures, including an above-standard compensation package that considers factors such as length of employment and proximity to retirement.
