Hubert Vogl's 'Dance of Death' graphic series at Museum für Sepulkralkultur

The Museum für Sepulkralkultur features the graphic series 'Der Totentanz der Tiere. Ein neuer Totentanz' (The Dance of Death of the Animals. A New Dance of Death) by artist Hubert Vogl.

Created in 1987, the series consists of twelve colored linocut prints that reinterpret the traditional 'Dance of Death' motif. Instead of depicting various social classes meeting death, Vogl’s work focuses on the relationship between human skeletons and various animal species, including seabirds, cattle, elephants, and whales.

The edition is limited to 150 numbered copies, with the specific specimen described being number 083 of the 40th Schwabacher Druck.
