HUD Secretary Turner reports $14 million homelessness funding fraud in Los Angeles

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner announced that four individuals in Los Angeles were arrested for allegedly stealing $14 million in taxpayer funds intended for homelessness programs.

During an appearance on Common Sense With Dr. Ben Carson, Turner detailed how the stolen money was reportedly used to purchase luxury items, including a Range Rover, a luxury home, a vacation house in Greece, and private flights. The investigation involves the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).

The Department of Justice is conducting an ongoing operation to identify and prosecute fraud within homelessness funding across California and other states.
