Hudora generates 30 million euros in annual revenue

Hudora, a German family-owned enterprise founded in 1919, generates approximately 30 million euros in annual revenue across its various companies and holdings. The company, currently managed by its fourth generation, employs 40 people and operates within the sports, leisure, and mobility markets.

Originally specializing in ice skates, the firm expanded into roller skates in the 1920s and secured over 40 patents, including a one-piece ice skate design that gained European recognition. The company has historically supplied equipment to Olympic figure skaters such as Katarina Witt and Manfred Schnelldorfer.

A significant milestone occurred in 2001 with the introduction of the BigWheel scooter. Developed in collaboration with Professor Horst-Walter Grollius of Bergische Universität Wuppertal, the model featured larger wheels and a patented folding mechanism. The manufacturer notes that the BigWheel remained on the market after passing safety tests that other competing folding mechanisms failed.

Today, scooters represent the company’s strongest category and market leadership. Managing the brand in a digital age, Hudora utilizes social media strategies, such as its mascot ‘Dora Donkey’ on Instagram, to compete for consumer attention in a landscape dominated by digital platforms.
