Hudson Valley schools evacuated following three separate emergencies

Three separate emergencies led to the evacuation or early dismissal of students at schools across the Hudson Valley on Thursday. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

In Westchester County, Mount Kisco Elementary and Hillside Alternative schools were evacuated after construction workers struck a gas line during excavation work. Over 500 students were moved to Fox Lane High School before returning to their buildings later that afternoon once the leak was secured.

Edgemont Junior and Senior High School also faced evacuation in Westchester County after an electrical fire in a basement utility tunnel produced heavy smoke. Approximately 900 students were relocated to Seely Place Elementary School, and classes were canceled for the remainder of the day.

In Dutchess County, Roy C. Ketcham High School students were sent home early following three malfunctions of the building’s fire alarm system.
