Hudson Young considers move to PNG Chiefs

Canberra Raiders star Hudson Young has indicated that his future lies between staying with the Raiders or joining the NRL’s 19th franchise, the PNG Chiefs. Young, who is recovering from an Achilles rupture, has been offered a three-year contract extension by the Raiders worth approximately $1.1 million per season.

Young described the prospect of joining the Chiefs as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” noting that the franchise's recent recruitment of high-profile players has made the move more attractive. The Raiders have granted Young permission to tour Papua New Guinea to meet with the Chiefs before he officially becomes a free agent on November 1.

The Chiefs have already secured several major signings, including Brian To’o, Jarome Luai, Joey Manu, Alex Johnston, Zac Lomax, and Connor Watson. Young intends to use his upcoming tour of PNG to determine if the lifestyle and environment are a suitable fit for his career.
