Hue City and Indonesia eye strategic Halal industry partnership

Hue City and Indonesia are exploring a strategic partnership focused on the Halal industry, including tourism, trade, and investment. A seminar held in Hue on September 23, co-organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hue People’s Committee, highlighted the city's potential as a gateway to the growing Muslim market.

Tran Huu Thuy Giang, Vice Chairman of the Hue People’s Committee, noted that the city’s UNESCO-recognized monuments and diverse landscapes make it a strategic location for Halal tourism. Meanwhile, Nguyen Phuong Tra, Director General of the Department of the Middle East and Africa, stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has submitted a scheme to the Vietnamese government to enhance international cooperation for the development of the national Halal industry through 2030.

Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Adam M. Tugio emphasized that the global Halal economy is a major economic driver, currently valued at approximately $7 trillion and projected to reach nearly $10 trillion by 2030. He noted that the demand spans multiple sectors, including agrifood, hospitality, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and logistics, driven by a global Muslim population of over two billion.
