Hue Project Management Director arrested over budget mismanagement

Ha Xuan Hau, Director of the Hue Urban Development and Construction Investment Project Management Board, has been arrested and prosecuted for “irresponsibility causing serious consequences.”

The investigation centers on a waste treatment project in Huong Binh valued at 85.79 billion VND, which included nearly 45 billion VND in central government budget funds. Originally approved in 2017 for implementation between 2018 and 2020, the project is alleged to have suffered from unfeasible proposals, improper contractor selection, and significant waste of state funds.

Police in Hue are currently expanding the investigation to include other individuals within the Project Management Board and related contractors.
