Hue City targets 810,000 medical tourists annually
Hue City has announced a strategic plan to restructure its tourism sector for the 2027–2030 period, with a significant focus on developing medical tourism. Under the project titled “Developing Medical Tourism in Hue City for the 2026–2030 Period, Orienting Toward 2035,” the city aims to attract approximately 810,000 medical tourists per year.
The initiative seeks to leverage Hue’s established reputation as a specialized medical center in Central and Central Highlands Vietnam. Key strengths include high-tech medical services such as organ transplantation, interventional cardiology, heart surgery, intensive oncology treatment, rehabilitation, and traditional medicine. The goal is to integrate healthcare services with wellness and leisure to build a brand as a leading medical tourism destination in Vietnam.
Additionally, the city plans to develop 10 core tourism product lines, prioritizing heritage, culture, night economy, music, and eco-tourism. The strategy focuses on diversifying visitor experiences and creating year-round travel programs to extend tourist stays and increase spending. The plan emphasizes a market-centric approach where businesses play a primary role in commercializing these diverse offerings.
