Hue Military Command surveys site for 140 suspected martyrs
The Hue Military Command is conducting surveys to locate a suspected burial site containing approximately 140 martyrs at Phuoc Tuong Pass. Based on witness accounts and information gathered by Steering Committee 515, it is believed that between 1968 and 1970, four truckloads of fallen soldiers' bodies were transported and buried in the area north of the pass.
On August 19, a working group visited the site in Phuoc Tuong Village, Phu Loc Commune, to collect further information and meet with local elderly residents and witnesses. Colonel Ha Van Ai, Deputy Political Commissar of the Hue Military Command, requested cooperation from local authorities in Phu Loc and Chan May - Lang Co communes to verify information and facilitate the eventual search and repatriation of the remains.
