Huelva opens new shelter for homeless individuals

Cáritas Diocesana de Huelva and the Huelva City Council have inaugurated the Refugio Nuestra Señora del Rocío, a new shelter dedicated to individuals experiencing homelessness. Located on Calle Cantero Cuadrado, the facility aims to provide a safe space for rest, accompaniment, and the beginning of social inclusion processes for those lacking stable housing.

The shelter offers 15 places for men and women and operates daily from 20:00 to 08:00. Two of these spots are reserved for urgent social situations. Access is granted to those in street situations who respect the center's coexistence rules, with referrals coming from both Cáritas services and municipal social services.

Beyond providing a place to sleep, the facility offers basic social care services, including dinner, hygiene facilities, a clothing repository, and personal assessments to help individuals connect with public and private social resource networks in the city.
