Huelva taxi fleet resumes service after dispute over Colombinas festival stop

The taxi service operating at the Colombinas festival in Huelva, Spain, returned to normal this evening after Teletaxi and the Huelva City Council resolved a disagreement that had halted operations overnight. Drivers had left the designated stop beside the festival entrance and limited service to the city after local police instructed them to avoid the usual turn, citing safety concerns. The conflict was exacerbated by the absence of a pre‑festival coordination meeting that normally involves the taxi association, municipal officials and the local police.

Negotiations held on Friday morning between Teletaxi’s vice‑president Hugo Sánchez, association president Iván Romero and municipal representatives led to an understanding. The council confirmed that the operating procedures would remain the same as previous years, and the taxi fleet of 172 vehicles will resume service at the festival venue. Both sides described the incident as isolated and emphasized a commitment to passenger safety and continued cooperation for the remainder of the festivities.
