Huelva to host R3genera 2026 Circular Economy Congress

The R3genera 2026 Congress, the first National Congress of Circular Economy for Industrial Development, will be held in Huelva from November 3 to 5. Organized by the Federación Onubense de Empresarios (FOE) and the Asociación de Empresas del Sector Ambiental de la Provincia de Huelva (AESA), the event aims to address how industry can become more competitive and resilient through better resource management.

Circular economy is increasingly viewed as a necessity for industrial competitiveness and innovation rather than just an environmental concern. The focus is on optimizing processes, reducing consumption, and converting waste into economic opportunities to mitigate the risks associated with resource and energy supply instabilities.

Broader academic discussions also highlight the tension between traditional economic views and environmental realities. While historical debates, such as those following the 'Limits to Growth' report, questioned the potential for abrupt human decline due to exponential growth, modern perspectives suggest approaching resource scarcity through ecological economics or bioeconomics to address environmental deterioration and climate change.
