Huelva wildfire risks increase in Conquero and Parque Moret

The political group Andalucía Por Sí (AxSí) has warned of a high risk of wildfires in the Conquero slopes and Parque Moret in Huelva. The group expressed concern regarding the vulnerability of these primary green areas following a recent devastating fire in the municipality of Niebla.

Key factors contributing to the risk include a lack of maintenance, the accumulation of dry vegetation, and uncontrolled waste dumping, including plastics and tobacco remains. Additionally, the uncontrolled expansion of eucalyptus trees is noted as a significant threat due to their highly flammable nature and the dry leaf litter they produce.

AxSí also highlighted that the current state of the access roads could pose a danger to residents and local schools, warning that a major fire could block the only access to Parque Moret, potentially trapping residents in nearby residential areas.
