Huentala Wines Malbec named best red wine in the world
Huentala Wines has achieved a historic milestone in viticulture, with its Malbec Huentala Calizo Albar Block 06 2023 being named the Global Champion and Best Red Wine in the World at the International Wine Challenge (IWC) in London.
The award was presented during the IWC gala following a rigorous blind tasting process where the Argentine label competed against trophy winners from the world's most prestigious wine regions. Prior to receiving the top honor, the wine earned a 97-point rating, a Gold Medal, and several regional trophies, including the Mendoza Malbec Trophy and the Argentine Red Wine Trophy.
The winning wine originates from La Isabel Estate in Gualtallary, located in the Uco Valley at an altitude of over 1,400 meters. The estate is characterized by extreme calcareous soils, significant thermal amplitude, and meltwater irrigation, which contribute to the wine's noted mineral freshness and complexity.
