Huesca Diocese begins canonization process for Bishop Javier Osés

The Diocese of Huesca has officially initiated the process to request the canonization of Monsignor Javier Osés Flamarique. During a memorial mass at the Huesca Cathedral, Bishop Pedro Aguado Cuesta announced that the Diocesan Episcopal Council has formally decided to ask the Holy See to open the cause for canonization.

Osés served the Diocese of Huesca for 32 years, including 24 years as its titular bishop from 1977 to 2001. The initiative is driven by what Bishop Aguado described as a widespread belief within the community regarding Osés’s virtuous life and “fame of holiness.”

The memorial service was presided over by Cardinal Juan José Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona, and attended by various religious and civil authorities. Speakers honored Osés for his wisdom, humility, and dedication to the service of Christian communities and those in need.
