Firefighters from Huesca, Spain, achieved significant success at the 11th edition of the European Police and Fire Games held in Vigo. The delegation secured a total of 20 medals, consisting of nine gold, four silver, and seven bronze medals.
Among the participants, Chus Til Martínez, a firefighter with the Huesca City Council's Prevention, Extinction, Fire, and Rescue Service (SPEIS), earned five medals. Her achievements include gold in road cycling, time trial, and mountain bike marathon (XCM), a silver in 2km open water swimming, and a bronze in the 8km cross.
Another participant, Alberto Nasarre Laguna, earned four medals, including two golds in rope and bouldering climbing, a silver in combined climbing, and a bronze in the half marathon. The event brought together approximately 3,000 emergency and security professionals from over 40 countries.
Mayor Lorena Orduna presided over a ceremony to honor the athletes, who included both active SPEIS members and a retired firefighter. The team is now looking toward future competitions, such as the 2027 World Games in Australia.
