Hugh Jackman stars in dark reinterpretation 'The Death of Robin Hood' set for August release

The film "The Death of Robin Hood" (also released in Italy as "Robin Hood – Il prezzo del sangue") is a dark re‑imagining of the legendary English outlaw. It is written and directed by Michael Sarnoski and produced by A24 together with Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company.

The picture stars Hugh Jackman as an aged, wounded Robin Hood, with Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe in supporting roles. The story focuses on guilt, remorse and the search for redemption rather than the traditional heroic adventure.

Principal photography began in February 2025 in Northern Ireland, using locations such as Belfast Harbour Studios, Silent Valley, Glenarm and Murlough Bay. A24 secured U.S. distribution rights at Cannes. The film will open in Mexico on 6 August 2026 (distributed by Imagem Films MX) and in Italy on 12 August 2026 via I Wonder Pictures.
