Hugh Jackman’s Dark ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ Film Premieres

Hugh Jackman stars as a dying, ruthless Robin Hood in the new film The Death of Robin Hood, a revisionist take that drops traditional heroics in favor of a bleak, introspective ending. Directed by Michael Sarnoski, the A24‑distributed movie premiered in New York on June 10 and is slated for a U.S. theatrical release in the coming weeks, with Italy scheduled for August 13.

Jackman recently posted a self‑deprecating video compiling the deaths of his famous film characters, ending with a caption that spoils his own character’s fate in the upcoming film. The cast includes Jodie Comer as Sister Brigid, Bill Skarsgård as Little John, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe, supporting the story of Robin’s final days after a grievous battle.

The narrative focuses on the outlaw’s reflection on his violent past, echoing the tone of Jackman’s earlier role in Logan, while offering a darker reinterpretation of the legendary English figure.
