Hugh Weibgen hits back-to-back centuries to lead Queensland to victory

Queensland opener Hugh Weibgen has recorded back-to-back centuries in the One-Day Cup, leading the Bulls to a 15-run victory over Western Australia. Following a 125 against New South Wales, the 21-year-old scored 103 at the WACA to anchor Queensland's innings of 261.

Weibgen, who previously led Australia to the 2024 Under-19s World Cup title, noted that while he dreams of playing for the national team, his current focus remains on winning games for Queensland. His recent form comes as the Australian ODI team seeks to rebuild following the retirements of Steve Smith, David Warner, and Glenn Maxwell.

In the match against Western Australia, Weibgen shared a 112-run partnership with Hugo Burdon to stabilize the innings after Queensland fell to 2-37. Despite a captain's innings of 58 from Ashton Turner, Western Australia was dismissed for 246 in 44 overs.
