Hugo Awards 2026 winners announced at LAcon V

The 2026 Hugo Awards were presented on August 30 during LAcon V, the 84th World Science Fiction Convention. The awards recognize excellence in science fiction and fantasy works.

Fred Fordham won Best Graphic Story or Comic for ‘A Wizard of Earthsea: A Graphic Novel’, an adaptation of the classic work by the late Ursula K. Le Guin. This marks the third posthumous Hugo for Le Guin. Other major winners include Alix E. Harrow for Best Novel with ‘The Everlasting’, and John Scalzi for Best Series with ‘Old Man’s War’.

In the dramatic presentation categories, Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ took Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, while the ‘Murderbot’ episode ‘All Systems Red’, directed by Roseanne Liang, won Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form. ‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’ was recognized as Best Game or Interactive Work. John Picacio was named Best Professional Artist, and Yuumei won Best Fan Artist.
