Hugo Broos criticizes Anderlecht over humiliating 2005 dismissal

Hugo Broos, the 74-year-old former player and manager, has reflected on his career, identifying his 2005 dismissal from RSC Anderlecht as the lowest point of his professional life. Broos, who played approximately 350 matches for the club and later led them to a league title as manager, described the manner in which he was fired by then-manager Herman Van Holsbeeck as “humiliating.”

Broos noted that the lack of respect following his departure made him decide not to return to the club for a long time. He expressed that even when attempting to attend matches as a spectator, he felt ignored by the institution. In contrast, he highlighted the warmer reception he receives from Club Brugge, where he currently resides, noting that the club provides him with better treatment and recognition as a former player and coach.
