Hugo Calderano advances to round of 16 at WTT Champions Macau

Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano advanced to the round of 16 at the WTT Champions in Macau after a decisive victory over Australia’s Nicholas Lum. Calderano, ranked seventh in the world, won the match in straight sets with scores of 11/4, 11/9, and 11/6.

During the match, Calderano maintained control in the first set and overcame a mid-match challenge in the second set to secure the win. Despite a technical timeout requested by Lum in the third set to disrupt the momentum, Calderano maintained his composure to close out the match.

As the fifth seed in the tournament, Calderano is looking to improve upon his performance from the 2025 edition, where he finished as runner-up. He will face the winner of the match between Tomislav Pucar of Croatia and Adrien Rassenfosse of Belgium in the next round.
