Hugo Calderano eliminated in WTT Montpellier semifinals

Brazilian table tennis player Hugo Calderano was eliminated from the WTT Champions in Montpellier, France, after a closely contested semifinal match against South Korea's Jang Woojin. Despite a strong performance in the quarterfinals, where he defeated Russia's Vladimir Sidorenko 4 sets to 2, Calderano fell to Jang in a seven-set battle with final scores of 11/8, 8/11, 7/11, 11/7, 14/12, 9/11, and 14/12.

Calderano had previously overcome several opponents in the tournament, including Dimitrij Ovtcharov, to reach the final stages. In the semifinal, the Brazilian managed to turn the match around to lead 2 to 1 and later tied the score at 3 to 3 in the sixth set. However, in the deciding seventh set, Jang Woojin secured the victory, preventing Calderano from reaching the final.
