Hugo González qualifies for 200m backstroke semifinals in Paris

Spanish swimmer Hugo González has secured a place in the semifinals of the 200m backstroke at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Despite a difficult race where he struggled during the third length, González finished 17th overall with a time of 1:58.11, qualifying via the two-swimmer-per-country rule.

In the same event, French swimmer Nathan Muratory set a new junior European record with a time of 1:54.87. Other top performers in the heats included Mewen Tomac and Hubert Kós. While González advanced, his teammate Diego Mira finished 20th and did not qualify for the semifinals.

González, who is also competing in the 50m, 100m backstroke, and 200m individual medley, expressed his ambition to compete against the best in Europe and improve his personal records.
