Hugo Guillamón signs with Sporting Gijón after leaving Hajduk Split

Spanish midfielder Hugo Guillamón, 26, terminated his contract with Croatian side Hajduk Split a year early and completed a transfer to Spain's Sporting Gijón. The agreement runs until 2028 with an option for an additional season. Guillamón travelled to Valencia on the afternoon of his contract termination and arrived in Gijón the following Tuesday to sign the deal.

Sporting Gijón, managed by Nicolás Larcamón, announced that Guillamón will solidify the club's midfield line, describing him as a future key player. The player has amassed more than 100 La Liga appearances and was part of Spain’s squad at the 2022 World Cup. During his spell at Hajduk, he made 26 appearances without scoring or assisting. Sporting Gijón finished the previous Segunda División season in 10th place with 61 points, 11 short of the promotion playoff zone.
