Hugo Guillamón suffers injury during Sporting Gijón debut

Hugo Guillamón suffered a significant injury during his league debut for Sporting Gijón in a match against Sabadell. The Spanish midfielder entered the game in the 62nd minute, but was forced to leave the pitch just minutes later after feeling a sharp sensation during his second touch of the ball.

Medical examinations confirmed a tear in the muscle fibers of his right groin. As a result, the former Hajduk Split player is expected to be sidelined for at least one month. Sporting coach Nicolás Larcamón noted that the injury was unexpected, as the player had not reported any issues during the week.

Guillamón, who can play as a center-back or defensive midfielder, joined Sporting Gijón in late July after terminating his contract with Hajduk Split. He signed a deal with the Asturian club through the summer of 2028.
