Hugo Javier González Alegre: Judge to decide on hospital discharge

Judge Carlos Luis Mendoza Peña visited former Central Department Governor Hugo Javier González Alegre at the National Hospital of Itauguá to assess his health status. González Alegre was hospitalized after being found with severe injuries in his cell at the La Esperanza Industrial Penitentiary.

Miguel Ferreira, Director General of the National Hospital of Itauguá, stated that while the former governor meets the requirements for hospital discharge, he has not received full medical clearance. He requires ongoing physiotherapy and neurological and motor skill treatment.

Medical professionals, including psychologists and psychiatrists, have recommended that the patient receive 24-hour assistance from family members. This recommendation stems from concerns regarding his recovery process, specifically noting that he experiences hallucinations at night, making constant supervision essential for his safety.
