Hugo Javier González shows clinical improvement after brain injury
Hugo Javier González, the former governor of the Central Department in Paraguay, is showing signs of clinical improvement following meningitis and a traumatic brain injury. Medical professionals at the Hospital Nacional de Itauguá report that his vital signs, including cardiac, renal, and respiratory functions, remain stable.
González has regained the ability to move his four limbs and can respond to verbal commands. Although he has a tracheotomy, he is breathing on his own and can communicate through lip-reading. Doctors noted that while his neurological evolution is slow, it is considered positive and steady. He has also begun participating in respiratory physiotherapy and has been able to sit on the edge of his bed with assistance.
Despite this progress, medical directors stated that González is not yet in a clinical or neurological condition to provide a formal statement to the Public Ministry. He remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit while undergoing further studies to determine when his tracheotomy might be removed.
