Hugo Javier González shows signs of improvement after brain injury

Medical professionals at the Hospital Nacional de Itauguá have reported signs of improvement in the health of Hugo Javier González Alegre, the former governor of Central. After 48 hours of hospitalization following a severe traumatic brain injury, doctors noted that the patient is showing neurological reflexes and small movements in his limbs.

Medical staff have begun a process of reducing sedation to evaluate his neurological state. While González is being treated for meningitis, doctors noted he has remained fever-free since his admission, which they described as a positive sign. He is currently being managed with analgesics rather than sedatives.

The exact cause of the brain injury—whether it was a direct trauma or a stroke—remains under investigation. The patient previously underwent surgery to place a catheter in his skull. Depending on his clinical evolution, doctors may proceed with extubation in the coming days.
