Hugo Jonasson suspended for two matches in Hockeyallsvenskan

Kalmar HC defenseman Hugo Jonasson has received a two-match suspension from the disciplinary committee following a boarding incident during a game against IK Oskarshamn.

The incident occurred during the second period of a match that ended 5–3. Jonasson delivered a heavy hit to his former teammate, Filiph Engsund. The disciplinary committee described the action as disrespectful and carrying a high risk of injury, noting that Jonasson targeted Engsund’s back while the player was unprepared for contact.

Jonasson defended his actions, stating he was attempting to close off space to prevent the opponent from skating around him. As a result of the suspension, he will miss Kalmar HC’s double header against Leksand on October 21 and 23.
