Hugo Motta and TCU Minister meet with lobbyist in Brasília

Records reveal that lobbyist Antonio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as ‘Careca do INSS’, met with Federal Deputy Hugo Motta and Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU) Minister Jhonatan de Jesus at a private residence in Brasília on December 6, 2024.

The meeting took place at the penthouse of lobbyist Charles Capella de Abreu. At the time, Motta was a leading candidate for the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, and Minister Jhonatan de Jesus had been serving at the TCU for approximately 18 months. The TCU was handling legal processes involving interests held by Antunes, who has been under scrutiny for his ties to entities involved in unauthorized deductions from INSS pensions and retirements.

Minister Jhonatan de Jesus stated he was present for approximately 20 minutes, does not recall the content of the conversations, and claimed it was his first and only contact with Antunes. Hugo Motta has not commented on the matter. The event included lawyers Alberto Moreira and Flávio Schegerin, who previously represented Antunes in ‘Operação Sem Desconto’, a Federal Police investigation into irregular social security deductions.
